Learning to flip....

DYS 250 Review

As you have probably noticed from my recent videos, I have been flying the DYS 250...A LOT! Here is a review of this particular quad.

Overview:

The DYS 250 comes almost ready to fly in a nice, hard case. The only thing you NEED to fly this race quad is a receiver and a transmitter. FPV makes it much more fun but is not necessary to fly. Getting through open pilot was really easy and the quad flew rock solid on the maiden without hardly any trimming. FPV with this quad is tons of fun and it can handle any inevitable crashes. This is a great quadcopter for beginners.

PROS

Great for beginners

Setup is super easy with the right transmitter (see cons)

Great size

Very durable

Carbon fiber props!

CONS

Does NOT work with the orange Tx system as it was advertised

The motors were a little bit small...

The frame is crowded on the inside because of the integrated ESC's

Integrated ESC's: if one goes out, GOOD LUCK!

The CC3D is not able t be connected to the computer without physically removing it from the frame: 

The inside is too crowded with the integrated ESC's to connect to the USB.

Not 4 cell compatible

Putting it together:

Putting this model together was a breeze as it is definitely geared towards the beginner. The only place I ran into trouble with is when I tried to hook my radio to it. Originally, the reason I bought this quadcopter is because Hobby King said that this quadcopter was based around the orange Rx/Tx system. My quadcopter would not respond to the control inputs of my orange Tx system in Open Pilot GCS. This might not be true for all of these quads, so don't base your opinion off of what happened to me. As soon as I hooked the DYS 250 up to my Taranis system, I had no problems whatsoever. Make sure to tighten your Prop-nuts! I lost one of them doing some testing and I had to buy more.

First flight:

Very unremarkable maiden flight: Everything worked as it was supposed to!
